Alvakanda Construction was built from the ground up by the husband-and-wife team of Julie and Selvin Alvarado. With a shared passion for quality craftsmanship and community-driven construction, they launched the company to bring a more intentional, honest, and hands-on approach to residential and commercial building in the Carolinas.

The name Alvakanda (pronounced Al-vuh-kon-duh) is a unique fusion of their family names Alvarado, Selvin’s surname from Honduras, and Onekanda, Julie’s African family name from the Congo. This name represents their blended heritage, their commitment to honoring their cultural roots, and their shared vision to lead with purpose and authenticity. Through Alvakanda Construction, Julie and Selvin proudly bring cultural representation into the construction industry proving that diversity and heritage are strengths that can build legacies.

Julie brings over a decade of experience as a healthcare professional and operational leader, which naturally transitioned into her role as the driving force behind the company's project management, client relations, and business strategy. Known for her attention to detail and deep care for both people and processes, Julie ensures that every client experience is seamless and high-quality.

Selvin, originally from Honduras, is the heart of the field operations team. With over 15 years of experience in hands-on construction, carpentry, and framing, he brings a level of precision, humility, and hard work that clients deeply respect. His leadership in the field reflects the company’s commitment to doing the job right the first time.

Together, Julie and Selvin have grown Alvakanda into a trusted general contracting firm known for its integrity, communication, and ability to execute everything from minor renovations to large-scale commercial projects.
